Appointment of the Federal Project Director for the Savannah
River Plutonium Processing Facility Project at the Savannah
River Site
As required by Department of Energy (DOE) Order 413.38, Program and Project
Management for the Acquisition of Capital Assets, I hereby approve your appointment as
the Federal Project Director for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
capital asset project: Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) Project at
the Savannah River Site (SRS).
The preliminary cost range of the SRPPF project is $1.8 Billion (B) to $4.6B with the
next major milestone decision point, Critical Decision-I, Approve Alternative Selection
and Cost Range, estimated to be completed in 2021 as presented to Congress by the Chair
of the Nuclear Weapons Council. I have found that you have demonstrated the requisite
competencies, communication, and leadership skills throughout your DOE career
necessary to successfully fulfill this position. Your certification as a Level 4 Federal
Project Director, leadership positions on two multi-billion dollar nuclear capital
construction projects, your three years of experience as the Deputy SRS Field Office
Manager, and six months experience as the Acting Field Office Manager provide you
unique capabilities to manage this critical project.
