SUBJECT: ACTION: Approve Extension for NNSA Advance Change
Directive (ACD) 332.2, The John A. Gordon Award for
Excellence and Innovation in the National Interest
ISSUE: Approve a one-year extension for ACD 332.2.
BACKGROUND: Advance Change Directive’s (ACD) are temporary directives that
expire on the date the replacement directive is issued or 12 months after the effective date
of the ACD, whichever is earlier. ACD 332.2 was issued on July 28, 2020, and is
scheduled to be replaced by a directive for recognition awards currently under
development by the NNSA Management and Budget (NA-MB). Extending this ACD for
one year allows NA-MB time to finalize the follow-on directive, while keeping the
authority and requirements for this award in effect.
SENSITIVITIES: None.
POLICY IMPACT: ACD 332.2 has expired. The John A. Gordon Award recognizes
an individual or team for excellence and innovation in the areas of science, technology,
management, or leadership. To issue this award to a deserving individual or team, the
authority to issue must remain current until it can be replaced by a follow-on directive.
URGENCY: ACD 332.2 expired on July 28, 2021.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the one-year extension for ACD 332.2, The John A.
